FIRE ALCHEMY II

What Are Your Rituals Worshipping?

The Unconscious Practices That Shape Our Lives

When most people hear the word ritual, they imagine something intentional.

A candle being lit.

A prayer being spoken.

An altar being prepared.

A ceremony being performed.

But what if ritual isn’t always something we consciously choose?

What if some of our most powerful rituals are the things we do without thinking?

Checking your phone before you’ve even greeted the morning.

Looking in the mirror and immediately finding something wrong.

Saying yes when you want to say no.

Putting off the conversation you know you need to have.

Scrolling when you’re uncomfortable.

Spending money because you’re anxious.

Overworking because resting makes you feel guilty.

Replaying the same painful story about yourself.

These things may not look spiritual.

But they are repetitive.

And repetition has power.

What We Practice, We Strengthen

Every time we repeat a behavior, we reinforce something.

Sometimes that’s intentional.

Sometimes it isn’t.

We can practice gratitude.

We can practice presence.

We can practice movement.

We can practice generosity.

We can practice honesty.

But we can also practice avoidance.

We can practice scarcity.

We can practice self-abandonment.

We can practice resentment.

We can practice fear.

And eventually, the things we repeatedly practice can begin to feel like who we are.

That’s why I’m becoming more interested in the rituals we don’t call rituals.

Because the unconscious rituals of our lives may be telling us more about our current identity than our conscious intentions do.

We can say we want peace while practicing chaos.

We can say we want abundance while practicing scarcity.

We can say we want intimacy while practicing avoidance.

We can say we want change while practicing the same behaviors that keep us exactly where we are.

And this isn’t about shame.

It’s about awareness.

Because you cannot consciously change something you refuse to see.

The Saturnian Question

This is where The Daughters of Saturn enters the conversation again.

Saturn asks us to look at structure.

What have we built?

What are we maintaining?

What are we repeating?

What are the consequences of those repetitions?

Not as punishment.

As accountability.

There is tremendous freedom in realizing that a pattern is a pattern—and not necessarily a permanent identity.

You can interrupt it.

You can examine it.

You can choose differently.

But first, you have to see it.

That is part of the deeper work of The Daughters of Saturn: becoming conscious of the structures and patterns that have quietly shaped our lives, then deciding which ones still deserve our devotion.

So today, don’t ask yourself:

“What new ritual should I add?”

Ask:

“What am I already practicing?”

And then:

“What is this practice making me?”

That question can change everything.
